Swimming in the school pool

On Monday we were lucky enough to start swimming in our school pool.  It is great that we can carry on gaining more skills following on from our lessons at the swim school.

Swimming Lessons

To finish our lessons at Canterbury Swim School we had some sessions about water safety. One activity we did was pulling someone to safety. We also practiced staying afloat, moving along an edge and jumping in safely.

One of the activities we have done is identifying what a confident person looks like, sounds like and feels like.  Here are two examples.

We have been looking at how confident we are.  One of the activities we have done is rank ourselves on a continuum.

Tree Planting at Kyle Park

We were lucky enough to have some of our pupils invited to help plant trees in Kyle Park.  This was a way to continue our learning about seeds and germination from Term 3.  

Swimming Lessons

Yesterday we had our first lesson at Canterbury Swim School. We will be swimming there every day for the first two weeks.

Little Garden

While we have been learning about seed germination we have also been growing our little gardens.

Duffy Assembly

We were lucky enough to have Katherine Camp come and visit our school.  She talked to us about her life as a runner.  She also gave out our Duffy books.

We spent some time in Term 3 writing plays in groups, here is one for you to enjoy.

New Classroom Games

We have bee n very lucky that the PSG have helped us get some new classroom games. Here we are enjoying our new games.

Production

We spent a lot of time practicing our 4 items for production. Then we had a dress rehearsal at the high school auditorium.  This is some Hornby people on one of our rehearsal days.

Weird Dress Up Day

During term 3 the school had a weird Dress up day.  Here are some of us looking weird.

Dance Lesson

We were lucky enough to have Eli come in and show us some dance moves.  We used one of them in our production.

Duffy Books

We received our Duffy Books and all enjoyed reading them.

Prop Making

We spent a lot of time making props for the production. We did papier mache and painting.

Office Opening

At the start of term 3 we had the official opening of our new office and gym block.

Explorers and Pirates

We spent some time learning about some explorers and pirates.  We displayed our information on ship posters and model ships.  To finish the term we had a treasure hunt where we had to follow maps.
